Turmeric Latte
I think a turmeric latte is the best thing since sliced bread. As I don’t really eat sliced bread I guess that doesn’t mean much. So, in other words, if you haven’t tried a turmeric latte yet, it may just rock your world. A least a tiny bit. This recipe explains how to take the turmeric spice mix from the last post and whip it into turmeric latte aka a cup of golden goodness. Turmeric lattes make a fantastic coffee substitute in the afternoon, or a post meal dessert substitute in the evening. I find this recipe makes a delicious and warming turmeric latte, which with its combination of sweetness and a tiny bit of spice also seems to squash any further sweet cravings. So it is an awesome option for those late afternoon energy slumps and sweet tooth rumblings. Best of all, you get all the health benefits of regularly consuming the wonder spice turmeric. Turmeric Latte
Total time: 8 mins
Serves: 1 cup
Ingredients
1 teaspooon Tumeric Spice Mix (see previous post)
1 cup Milk - plant based e.g. almond, hemp, coconut, soy, oat, etc. or dairy depending on what you prefer
Maple Syrup or Honey to taste
Optional: ½ teaspoon Coconut Oil
Instructions
Pour the milk into a stainless steel saucepan (note: turmeric will stain anything white or lightly coloured so best to use a metal pan). Add 1 teaspoon of the turmeric spice mix and gently whisk together with a metal whisk. If using it, add the coconut oil and whisk through. Place on a medium heat until the mix starts to boil. Reduce the heat and allow to simmer at least 5-7 mins, or a little longer if you can, whisking intermittently. Just before it is ready, add maple syrup or honey to taste and whisk through. If you have a hand held milk foamer, you can also use this at the end to create a nice foamy layer on top of the latte. When ready remove from heat and pour into a mug. Enjoy!
